Aqueduct VR
The Colorado River Aqueduct, an engineering marvel built and maintained by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, begins at Lake Havasu on the California-Arizona border and moves water 242 miles over desert and mountains to Metropolitan’s vibrant service area – Southern California.
Here, 19 million people spanning 6 counties benefit from this water supply and from Metropolitan’s leadership and forward-looking investments for the region.
The water flows to homes, schools, businesses, industries, farms, and parks, supporting a thriving $1 trillion economy.
In this virtual tour, you will experience a number of sites along the Colorado River Aqueduct, from its start at the Whitsett Intake Pumping Plant on Lake Havasu at the California-Arizona border to its end at Lake Mathews, a reservoir in Riverside.
The tour continues to a water treatment plant, where water is cleaned, and then to Southern California -- the ultimate destination of this water.
At each point of interest, you may further learn about the site by listening to a narration and exploring the photosphere.
